For your dew is a dew of light. (Is. 26:19)
Rain in pearls,
glassy sheets,
misty fine jewel-points,
splashes, crashes, patters, slakes
the softening earth.
And chiseled crystal flakes, each
a tiny masterpiece,
still as they fill the skyscape.
Snow flutters
on faintest footfalls to the ground.
But dew alights
amid midnight silence,
grows in morning’s softness
upon the trees, the leaves, the grass.
If Your dew is a dew of light,
perhaps in quiestest hours inbreaking
it catches in my heart—
life awakens to Life
as dewdrops in the sunrise.
